Ellie Doughty is a Communication Arts major at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. She dreams big! Her creative progress is documented here through (supposedly) daily posts of stuff she makes.
i had a bit of spare time, so i went to the top floor of a parking garage and drew stuff.
30 minutes into this, i realized the person at the bottom right table was a good friend of mine, called her, and reminded her that i am her creepiest friend.
an illustration for my concept drawing class, using the characters from my lineup. the protagonist (not pictured) is an iguana butcher by profession, and these people are not supposed to be here.
i've been into collaging my screenprints lately, especially onto objects! it's all up in my alley. i entered this in a show at richmond's studio 23. this piece is being shown at studio 23's mixtape show in december! yay!
because i just can't let go, and these drawings are excellent to build on, i'm doing a series of screenprints of my rooftop drawings from europe. this was the first version of #1, a three layer print. i've changed some things now, but i still like how this turned out.
concept drawing is tied for my favorite class this semester. we had to design a cast of 5 characters based on a folktale selected by my professor. this was REALLY FUN and i'm super bummed that this is going to be my only semester to do this kind of work.
